Saddleworth Golf Club will provide you with a variety of challenges to test your shot making abilities, and yet always reward you with panoramic views of the Pennines and the villages of Saddleworth. In the last 100 plus years the club and course has matured and flourished into the best course in the area, with amazing views of the surrounding areas.
Dr Alister MacKenzie, the world famous golf course architect, created an 18 hole layout in 1913 but a 9 hole course had already been in play since 1904. Saddleworth Golf Club was formed in May 1904 when a group of prominent local men and women met at the Mechanics Institute (now Civic Hall) in Uppermill and resolved to establish the club.
Practice facilities are provided at the rear of an extensive car park. Golfers are able to practice iron shots from practice tees or natural lies. A new chipping green will further add to the amenity in 2010. The clubhouse has a lounge with bar, large flat TV screens with Sky TV. A separate snooker room with full size table provides entertainment and relaxation as an alternative to golf or when the weather proves impossible.
